COURSE DESCRIPTION: An accelerated reading course for the upper 2/5s of all freshmen and taken as a complementary course to Honors World Literature. Honors Reading provides intensive daily instruction in reading comprehension and critical thinking. Honors Reading uses engaging books that reflect the experiences of many of the students, ranging from small and whole group instruction. Additionally, this course introduces students to several genres; emphasizes writing in a variety of forms and for a variety of purposes; increase vocabulary awareness; introduces research techniques and citation methods; and explores several models of speaking and listening.
